“Fusion Cuisine” – Is over-rated and historically misleading, depending on the use of the phrase.
Please don’t lump me, or my content into the “Fusion Cuisine” category.
Pop-culture adopted the phrase it seems; and has made it into a style of cooking, which does not reflect the History of the Culinary arts of Cuisine.
“Fusion Cooking” has been happening since long before the current Pop Culture marketing of the concept… Historically Global economies couldn’t have grown without Culturally mixed cooking over thousands of years.
In the end, “Fusion” in cooking is just a useful word, which sounds much better then ‘hybrid cooking’?
It is a shame it’s been pop-culture claimed, and over used to become a ‘Style’ of cooking.
With a love of Food and a curiosity for other Cultures; two of my favourite interests combine here and usually result in Great Meals! usually…
My Cooking With/con Fusion is primarily from the mixing of different Herbs, Spices and Flavours from a variety of cultures, including, but not limited to Mexican, “Indian”, Mediterranean, Hakka and recently Puerto Rican, expanding into South American … all with the addition of North American style “Grill Smoking”!
